1. Agreement and eligibility
These terms apply to the CarerLedger Android app and optional AI service provided under the Digident developer name. By using CarerLedger, you agree to these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be at least 18 and legally able to agree to these terms. The beta is designed for UK workers keeping their own records.
2. What CarerLedger does
CarerLedger lets you log work-related time and mileage, organise records into pay periods, enter or import payslip information, compare reviewed information using a deterministic time-work estimate, and export a worker-prepared evidence pack. Optional AI can organise text from a payslip after you review it.
The beta does not support every work or pay arrangement. Salaried-hours, output, unmeasured, live-in, sleep-in, multiple-employer, accommodation-offset, deferred-pay and other complex cases may be marked for review or out of scope.
3. No legal, tax or payroll advice
Outputs are informational estimates based on the data and classifications you provide. Employment contracts, collective agreements, worker status, pay allocation, deductions, expenses and individual circumstances can change the correct treatment. A result saying “estimated at or above” is not a compliance finding; a result saying “estimated below” is not a legal determination of underpayment.
Check original records and obtain independent advice before relying on an estimate, contacting an employer, making a financial decision or starting a claim. ACAS, HMRC, a trade union, Citizens Advice or a qualified adviser may be appropriate.
4. Your responsibilities
- Enter complete and accurate records and review every classification, payslip line and AI suggestion.
- Use neutral aliases. Do not enter care-recipient names, addresses, medical details, care notes or confidential employer information.
- Only import or process documents you are entitled to use, and follow workplace confidentiality and device policies.
- Protect your device and exports. You control any PDF or CSV once you share or save it outside the app.
- Do not misuse the service, attempt unauthorised access, overwhelm it, bypass limits, submit unlawful material or interfere with other users.
5. Optional AI
AI use is optional. OCR runs on device, automatic redaction can miss information, and only text you review should be submitted. The original image or PDF is not sent to our AI endpoint. AI can omit, misread or misclassify fields and does not perform the statutory calculation. You must compare suggestions with the original document before confirming them.
6. Local data and exports
CarerLedger is accountless. The ledger and imported attachments are encrypted and excluded from Android backup and device transfer. Generated PDF and CSV exports are ordinary, unencrypted files: an in-app copy is private to the app until you share or save it, after which the destination controls its security. Delete all removes copies still held by the app, but not copies already saved or shared elsewhere. We cannot restore data if your device, app data or encryption key is lost. Deleting all data or uninstalling can be irreversible. Keep any evidence pack you need in a secure location and check it before sharing.
7. Beta availability and changes
The beta may contain defects, and online analysis may be limited, suspended or unavailable. We may change features, supported calculations, limits or these terms to improve safety, comply with law or operate the service. We will give an appropriate notice where a change materially affects users.
We may restrict online access where reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention or service protection. Manual local features are intended to remain usable without AI, but we do not promise uninterrupted availability or indefinite support for a beta version.
8. Intellectual property and licence
Digident grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use CarerLedger for lawful personal record-keeping. You retain rights in information and documents you provide. The app, branding and original service materials remain owned by Digident or its licensors.
9. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that it is error-free, complete, suitable for a particular dispute, or accepted by an employer, HMRC, ACAS, a tribunal or court.
We are not responsible for losses caused by inaccurate or incomplete user data, unreviewed AI output, loss of local records, insecure exports, third-party services, or use outside the stated scope, except where the law does not allow that responsibility to be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits consumer rights or liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Ending use
You may stop using the app at any time and delete local data in Settings. Provisions which by their nature should continue—including ownership, disclaimers and responsibility for exports—survive ending use.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, mandatory protections and courts available in your home jurisdiction are preserved. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern.
